Week 20

  • View the required video about APA referencing
  • Read through the Class Notes to get an overview on how to write your Research Essay
  • Write an ‘Introduction’ to the beginning of your essay
  • Evaluate, compare and contrast a range of relevant literature in sections about ‘theme’ (draw the themes from your Annotated bibliography and Synthesis matrix, if necessary locate more sources)
  • Finalise the ‘Insights from the analysed literature’ section
  • Describe your Inquiry question and justification
  • Write a ‘Conclusion’ at the end
  • Check that you have used academic writing conventions
  • Check that you have used correct referencing (reference list and in-text citations acknowledge the literature sources) and let the test Turnitin help you in this
  • Read your writing aloud to know if it flows and makes sense, or ask someone to to proofread it and to provide constructive feedback and return the favour
  • Run the final essay through the official Turnitin link
  • Submit the Turnitin Similarity report (pdf) to the portal
  • Reflect on the two Kaupapa Māori approaches to your Action Plan that you will start to work more with from next week onwards

In Week 25 (Applied Practice in Context), you were asked to write your first reflective entry on “Take Action”. This is a follow on from our introduction of  critical reflection  in  week 6 LEADERSHIP  (related media ‘Critical Incident Reflection’).
