Week 19

Check the examples (required) from previous students' works about evaluating research publications, synthesizing the sources, and comparing or contrasting the literature. Read “Writing A Literature Review and Using a Synthesis Matrix” (supplementary). Use a Synthesis Matrix to capture the key features and to critically evaluate your selected literature, as well as identify the two to four major themes in your sources. Locate more literature (if necessary) so that you are able to compare and contrast these under the two to four different themes as explained in the class notes. Update these to your Bibliography. From the evaluation of the literature, check the accuracy of your assumption by noting the similarities and differences within the literature - include this into your Research Essay’s Section 4. Reflect on the 2 principles of Kaupapa Māori research in your Action Plan Join conversations surrounding topics of interest, or areas of focus or themes across the literature, ...

Week 18

Read the course notes DONE View the 'Required' Searching Databases -video DONE View the Required ‘What's an annotated bibliography’ -video DONE Locate at least 2 relevant ebooks and 3 peer-reviewed articles and briefly describe those in your Annotated Bibliography document (or use reference management software such as Mendeley) Keep a record of good keywords that will help you on your future searches Use the readings and class notes to refine your focus area and write down ideas as themes for your Research Essay Reflect on the 2 principles of Kaupapa Māori for your Action Plan Join conversations surrounding topics and themes of interest to you in the July 2018 intake Google+ community
